The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has lifted a statewide ban on recycling wastewater for drinking. Flagstaff city officials say the new rule opens up more options for the future. KNAU’s Melissa Sevigny reports.

The Arizona Court of Appeals ruled today that the Hopi Tribe has the right to sue Arizona Snowbowl over snowmaking using treated wastewater on the San Francisco Peaks. KNAU’s Ryan Heinsius reports, it reverses a previous decision dismissing the lawsuit.

Flagstaff city planners are weighing several options for a new water supply. They expect to need more water to serve a growing population in about 20 or 30 years. KNAU’s Melissa Sevigny reports.

It takes good ingredients to make good beer—grain, yeast, hops, a dash of honey or a squeeze of fresh cherries to add subtle flavor. This month more than two dozen breweries in Arizona tried out a new ingredient: purified wastewater. The Pure Water Brew Challenge raised awareness about water reuse and also inspired some tasty new beers. KNAU’s Melissa Sevigny went to local Flagstaff brewery Wanderlust, for our segment Eats and Beats: stories about food and music.

The City of Flagstaff and the Hopi Tribe have reached a settlement in the long-running lawsuit over snowmaking on the San Francisco Peaks. It’ll first have to be approved by the Flagstaff City Council, but Navajo Nation officials say they oppose the agreement. Arizona Public Radio’s Ryan Heinsius reports.
