Flagstaff, AZ – Sydney Hay is campaigning on what she calls a record of experience making change in Arizona. Now, she wants to bring that change to Washington. Hay often says that she is not just running for Congress; she's running against Congress.

"I believe Washington D.C. is broken and Congress has really let us down. I think I can make a change in Washington for the future of this country and for my kids and grandkids," Hay said.

Flagstaff, AZ – First-time congressional candidate Howard Shanker is emphasizing alternative energy, universal health care, and the environment in his run for the Arizona 1st Congressional District seat.

Shanker, a high-profile lawyer in northern Arizona, said he is running for the seat because there is only so much he can do as a lawyer, and because he says he's outraged at what he's seen in Washington.

Flagstaff, AZ – Arizona 1st Congressional District candidate Barry Hall calls himself "not a political person," and says his lack of political roots would help him in office. Hall is a former Baptist minister and served on the Sedona Town Hall Committee.

"I am not that precocious to think I'm the best, but I feel like I would do an excellent job. I know my heart would be in it. I know my integrity. I've always been faithful to my country, family, job," Hall said.

Flagstaff, AZ – Political newcomer Jeffrey Brown says he enjoys running as the underdog in the race for Arizona's 1st Congressional District seat. Brown is running as a long-time political progressive with political experience in city, state and federal government.

Peach Springs, AZ – Heavy rainfall and a breached dam caused a flash flood in Supai Canyon late Saturday night. About 250 people - both tourists and tribal members -- were flown out of the canyon one helicopter at a time Sunday and Monday. They were bussed here to this American Red Cross shelter set up in Peach Springs on the Hualapai Reservation.

Prescott, AZ – Arizona 1st Congressional District candidate Sandra Livingstone is emphasizing her childhood growing up in Prescott, Arizona, and her stance on immigration. The Republican candidate was born and raised in the 1st District.

Inside her campaign headquarters, Livingstone said that local connection is exactly why she's running for Congress.
