The Goodwin Fire 14 miles south of Prescott has forced the evacuations of several communities as fire crews struggle with arduous conditions. KNAU’s Ryan Heinsius reports, it’s reached nearly 21,000 acres and is only about 1 percent contained.

A fast-moving wildfire has charred more than 28 square miles (72 square kilometers) in north-central Arizona and forced the evacuation of the town of Mayer as a precaution, along with other areas.

Firefighters on the Prescott National Forest are battling a 4,399-acre wildfire that prompted the evacuation of the Pine Flat community over the weekend. Officials have also now confirmed that some structures have burned, and only 5 percent of the blaze has been contained on the Bradshaw Ranger District. KNAU’s Ryan Heinsius reports.

Heavy smoke from regional wildfires has settled in the Flagstaff area. KNAU’s Ryan Heinsius reports, the Coconino County health department has recommended the public curtail outdoor activity until it lifts.

Crews battling a wildfire southwest of Grand Canyon Airport near the town of Tusayan report significant progress. The Rain Fire was 40 percent contained as of Thursday morning and has burned about 150 acres.
