Arizona Republicans Urge Against Grand Canyon Watershed National Monument

Twenty five members of Congress, including four Arizona Republicans, are urging President Obama not to designate nearly 2 million acres near the Grand Canyon as a national monument. As Arizona Public Radio’s Ryan Heinsius reports, the representatives say such a move would be an overreach by the president.

Tonto NF Supervisor Meets with Native Americans Protesting Resolution Copper Mine

Earlier this week, the supervisor of the Tonto National Forest met with a group of Native Americans hoping to prevent copper mining at a sacred site east of Phoenix. As Arizona Public Radio’s Ryan Heinsius reports, recent federal legislation cleared the way for the Oak Flat area to become part of North America’s largest copper mine.

Congressman Gosar Wants U.S. Attorney General Out of Office

Flagstaff Republican Congressman Paul Gosar is leading an effort to show that the U.S House has lost confidence in Attorney General Eric Holder. 

Gosar introduced the resolution of “no confidence” over Holder's handling of the gun running program "Fast and Furious." Republicans accuse Holder and senior Justice Department officials of allowing the ATF to let illegal U-S guns slip into the hands of Mexican drug cartels without tracking them. Gosar says so far twenty two of his colleagues have signed onto his proposal.
