A helicopter crash that killed three British tourists and left four others critically injured happened on tribal land in the Grand Canyon where air tours are not as highly regulated as those inside the national park.

Authorities have identified three people killed in a helicopter crash in the Grand Canyon over the weekend. KNAU’s Ryan Heinsius reports, the group of six British tourists took off from Las Vegas for a sightseeing flight Saturday.

The Hualapai Tribe is expanding tourist offerings at the west rim of the Grand Canyon.

More than 1 million people a year visit Grand Canyon West, outside the boundaries of the national park. It's best known for the Skywalk, a horseshoe-shaped glass bridge that juts out 70 feet from the canyon wall and gives visitors a view of the Colorado River 4,000 feet below.
