Munsil Blames Public Financing for Defeat

Phoenix, AZ – Pollster Earl de Berge noted that before Munsil was the
GOP contender he was president of the Center for
Arizona Policy. In that position he lobbied to restrict
abortion, ban gay marriage and provide public funds for
private and parochial schools. De Berge noted that
fewer than one in five registered voters went to the
polls in September, something that worked to Munsil's
benefit in winning the Republican nomination.

Gay Marriage Tactics

Phoenix, AZ – Kyrsten Sinema, chair of the campaign to defeat
Proposition 107, said the strategy was to show straight
couples who would lose their domestic partner benefits.
That's because the initative would not only have
constitutionally barred gay marriage but also precluded
governments from providing benefits to the partners of
their workers, gay or straight.

Correction to Alyssa Peterson story

Flagstaff, AZ – KNAU reported in a broadcast Tuesday and Wednesday that Army specialist Alyssa Peterson of Flagstaff may have committed suicide in Iraq three years ago rather than follow what she believed to be illegal orders. In fact, while the army investigation does state she objected to interrogation techniques used on detainees, it does not conclude that those objections were related to her suicide. KNAU apologizes for this error.

Arizona debates gay marriage

Flagstaff, AZ – If passed, Proposition 107 would amend the state Constitution to define marriage as a union between one man and one woman. It would prohibit the state or its political subdivisions from recognizing any legal status similar to that of marriage.

A political subdivision may be a state, county or city. That would include state universities and public schools.
