Yuma Leads State in Teenage Births

Flagstaff, AZ – A new study shows Yuma County is leading the state in teenage births, but the study also shows a high rate for child deaths. The non-profit Childrens Action Alliance says there were nearly 72 teen births per 1,000 females ages 15 to 19 in Yuma County in 2006. That's compared to the state rate of nearly 60. Yuma County also had 22 child deaths per 100,000 children age 1 to 14. The state rate for child deaths was 21 per 100,000 in 2006.
