Flagstaff, AZ – A plan to sell spring water from the San Francisco Peaks has fallen through. Flagstaff Mayor Sara Presler says the city has rejected a proposal by Arrowhead Mountain Spring Water to pump 55 million gallons of water from the peaks every year. May Presler called the proposal a poor fit for the community, and that, first and foremost, the City of Flagstaff needs an adequate and healthy water supply. Had the Arrowhead proposal gone through, it would have created industry and employment for Flagstaff. However, Mayor Presler said yesterday that wasn't enough motivation to justify selling off millions of gallons of fresh water each year. Arrowhead Resources Manager Larry Lawrence could not be reached for comment.
