Road Closures Update

Flagstaff AZ – nterstate 40 will be opened tonight at 7 pm both east and west bound. Interstate 17 will be open south bound only at 7 pm tonight and then north bound I-17 will be opened at 7 am Saturday morning. All other closed routes in the Flagstaff area will still remain closed. Both Interstates still have snow packed sections and drivers need to use extreme caution.
SR 77 in-between Superior and Kearny: CLOSED.

We just had a rock slide blocking both lanes. Several semi-trucks are
blocked in and stuck with no way to turn around. It will be sometime before
this is cleared up.

State Route 74 is closed from Interstate 17 to US-60.

State Route 303 is closed from Thomas Road to Northern Avenue.

State Route 87 is closed at Fossil Creek (milepost 270, between Pine and
Strawberry). This closure is in addition to the previous closures on State
Route 87.

State Route 260 is closed west of Camp Verde.

State Route 260 is restricted to vehicles equips with four-wheel drive or
chains between Payson and Heber.

US-60 is closed from Globe to Show Low. US-60 is also closed in the City
of Miami.

US-60 at Wenden is closed due to flooding

Interstate 17 has been opened at Table Mesa. Interstate 17 remains closed
at milepost 298 (Sedona exit).

*The following three closures projected for several days.*

US 60 closed in both directions due to rock slide at MP 321. This
particular closure is from Junction of SR 73 at Whiteriver at MP 318, to

SR 260 at MP 340 closed due to snow from McNary at MP 361 to Greer.

SR 273 at MP 385 closed to snow in the middle to Sunrise

Interstate 40 and Interstate 17 are still closed and State Route89A from
Flagstaff to Sedona is still closed. No predictions on when things will
open up. No other closures in the Flagstaff area except US 180 which is
still closed. It is still snowing heavily in Flagstaff. Snow plowing
crews are out on all highways in the Flagstaff ADOT and Holbrook ADOT
districts. Crews in the Flagstaff area are also fighting some flooding
issues south of Flagstaff on I-17.

Here are the conditions up on the reservation as they are being reported by
the Holbrook District;

I40 WB MP 252 has been closed due to the snow until 12 pm 1/22/10 have
activated DMS boards along I40 WB notifying traveling public that road is
closed at Winslow. Also SR 87S is closed at MP 338.9 until tomorrow. Both
of these road closures was activated at 18:00 by the units of Winslow Org #
8751. The third snow storm in this series has finally begun in the
Holbrook District areas at 23:00.

Winslow Org# 8751 currently has five snow plowing units out two working
on SR 87 S, and three units working I40 and 87N

KeamsCanyonOrg# 8753 has four snow plowing units out. SR 264 between mp
401.9-426.0 E/W reporting heavy snow fall and low visibility.

Ganado Org# 8754 has four snow plowing units out working on 264 E/W
areas 426.1-476.1, also working on 191 N 417.6- 462 and 191 S 389.6-411.6.
They have wet heavy snowfall on 264 between mp 457-473 covers up as quickly
as is plowed and is becoming difficult with white out conditions. Also on
191 N beginning at mp 425 it is snowing heavily with white out conditions
and the roads are becoming snow packed and icy.

Chambers Org# 8755 has six unit snow plowing out on I40 E/W and 191S.
Roads are Icy and snow packed. Still snowing at this time.

Kayenta Org# 8752 has two snow plowing units out on Hey 160; Roads are Icy
with snow still falling.
