National Geographic releases new maps for northern Arizona

By Daniel Kraker

Flagstaff, AZ – The Trails Illustrated Maps cover Flagstaff and Sedona, but also the Verde Valley, Apache Creek and Juniper Mesa, the Mogollon Rim and the Bradshaw Mountains. They join a map done last year of the Tonto National Forest, and a three part series of the Grand Canyon. Shane Matthews is product manager for National Geographic Maps.

"If we're able to get the Kaibab in, we'll have every trail from Phoenix to Boulder mapped on a variety of products."

Matthews says National Geographic made the new maps because they were impressed by visitation numbers at Arizona's wilderness areas. The maps are revised every 3 to 5 years.
