Live from Pledge Central - Day 2: 24% to Goal
Short pledge drive means two things—a shorter number of days for the drive as well as fewer hours on-air during the drive. But what does that really mean? Well, it means returning about 36 hours of programming to you AND continuous listening for our Classical Music and Diane Rehm fans.
It's two days into the drive and we're making slow but steady progress toward our goal. Short pledge drive is a financial risk for KNAU because nearly 70% of our funding comes from…YOU! We do get a little nervous when we don’t hear the phones ringing, but then we remember that you became a sustainer last year, or pledged on line, or responded to one of our recent renewal requests.
A hearty thanks to all the KNAU listeners who helped kick off the spring drive with their pledge of support! We've had some terrific community groups in to answer phones. The sound of phones ringing was definitely music to their ears! Many thanks to the folks from Coconino Community College, Sedona / Verde Valley Pride, The Arboretum at Flagstaff, Literacy Volunteers of Coconino County, Beacon Unitarian Universalist Congregation, and other individuals who volunteered their time during this gorgeous early spring weather!).
Food kudos go out to our community partners - Coco's Bakery Restaurant, Main Street Catering, Jitter's Lunchbox, and Sugar Mamas Bakery - for providing sweet and savory eats to help feed our volunteers and staff during the first couple days of the drive.
Finally, a big congratulations to our first three sweepstakes winners: Janice Knochel of Kingman who won the pre-drive iPad sweeps; Donna Boward of Flagstaff who won a 3-day Grand Canyon Getaway in the Friday daily sweeps, (thanks to our friends at Grand Canyon Railway for donating that great package!); and Robert Zaccaria of Winslow who won the Saturday daily sweeps - two VIP tickets to "Reinventing Audio - An Evening with Ira Glass".
If you value the programming you hear on KNAU, please, pledge your support today. There are just 3 days remaining in the drive, and in order to prove that SHORT really is the new normal we must make our goal!
Stay tuned... more updates to come!
