Phoenix, AZ – In a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Brewer proposed to eliminate care for about 280,000 of the 1.2 million people enrolled in the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System. The governor said the state's finances make it impossible to keep the program as is.
(My goodness. It's grown, what, from 17 percent to 29 percent of the budget in the last four years. We just simply can't do it. We just simply don't have the money.)
Phoenix, AZ – The difference is not much. There are now just 2,036 more independents than Democrats. But the crossover, which occurred since voter registration closed prior to last year's general election, is part of a longer-term trend where parties are less and less important. Pollster Earl deBerge said the reasons for this depend on the age of the voter.

But it is the governor who always gets the last word. And Mesa Republican Cecil Ash said that word, more often than not, is 'no.' Ash proposes to leave the final decision to the five-member board.
Flagstaff, AZ – Governor Brewer basically gave the State of the State speech that she never gave in the aftermath of the mass shooting in Tucson earlier this month. She laid out her plan to cut business taxes and grow the economy, strengthen education, and, of course, balance the budget.
Flagstaff, AZ – Click here for a slideshow of Joe Sorren's work If you've ever been to downtown Flagstaff's Heritage Square, then you know Joe Sorren's work. His giant mural "The Veridic Gardens of Effie Leroux" curves around the wall of the Old Town Shops. The title is as strange as the painting even Sorren admits his art is "kind of weird" for this area.
